Chrome extension privacy

Last updated: September 13, 2026

GrammarFix for Chrome is published by AppCity Limited Liability Company (App City Studios). This policy explains how the extension handles your information.

Your writing

The extension accesses the text field or selection you choose to correct, rewrite, translate, or use with Craft. It detects editable fields to display its button. Ordinary typing does not trigger AI requests. It does not collect your browsing history or send complete web pages for analysis.

On-device and optional Cloud AI

When Chrome's built-in AI is available, writing is processed on your device. Cloud AI is off by default. If you enable it, submitted writing and enabled personalization context and instructions are sent over HTTPS to App City Studios and OpenAI to generate your result. Submitted writing may contain personal information you choose to include. You can disable Cloud AI in settings at any time.

The cloud service processes requests and applies usage limits. The application does not log submitted writing or generated results. Hosting and AI providers may process technical information such as IP addresses and maintain operational or abuse-prevention logs under their own policies. Requests instruct OpenAI not to store completions as saved responses; this does not override provider operational retention.

Settings and drafts

Writing preferences, custom styles, personalization, disabled-site settings, consent, and daily usage counters are saved in Chrome's local extension storage. The writing-pad draft is held in session storage. This information is not synchronized by GrammarFix across browsers. Personalization is included in AI requests only when enabled. Removing the extension clears its extension storage; you can also edit or clear saved personalization in settings.

Payments

If you choose a paid plan or trial, ExtensionPay and Stripe handle checkout, licensing, and billing. ExtensionPay may process an email address, a license identifier, and subscription or trial status. GrammarFix stores licensing status locally. The extension does not receive or store card numbers. Writing is not sent to these payment providers.

Use and sharing

Data is used to provide the writing features you request, maintain the service, and, where applicable, manage billing. We do not sell personal information, use writing for advertising, or transfer it for creditworthiness or lending decisions. Use and transfer of information received through Chrome APIs adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We do not use submitted writing to train our own models.

Your choices and contact

You can leave Cloud AI off, clear personalization, hide the button on selected sites, restrict the extension's site access in Chrome, or uninstall it. For privacy questions or requests concerning information held by us, contact support@appcitystudios.com. Billing information may need to be retained to meet accounting and legal obligations.

Updates to this policy will appear here with a revised date.
